eMergineering Company Overview

eMergineering is registered with SBA and CCR and is a Veteran-owned small business (VOSB). It, or its principle owner, has been doing business with CMS and Medicare for the past 9 years primarily in the Beneficiary Call Center area. Its principle owner was the Data Architect for the MCSC (Medicare Customer Service Center) application which was the first national Windows based application that provided Part A, Part B, and DME claim information to Customer Service Representatives in a GUI format obtained in real time from Claim processing contractors in numerous states.  MCSC was written using Forte object oriented language and was deployed in multiple states and multiple Call Centers. It was developed in 1996 and deployed early 1997 and used its CICS API interfaces into MCS, FISS, and DME to retrieve and update claim and beneficiary information. In addition we developed a COBOL CICS API module (ED20C00) at CMS and deployed it in CMS’s production CICS region which enabled the MCSC application to obtain real time information from EDB and the Social Security MBR system. Nine years later, this EDB middleware interface is still in daily use and supports MCSC/NGD (Medicare Customer Service Center Next Generation Desktop developed in Siebel by AdminaStar Federal) along with the MCSC/NGD Beta testing activities.

As the MCSC Data Architect, eMergineering was responsible for all of the data including the Oracle database’s, IBM CICS software running on Windows NT, Microsoft SNA Servers,  FTP and NDM functions, along with the numerous activity reports that were required for management. eMergineering also created the Administration application which managed and controlled user ids, lookup tables, telephony interfaces, and various security functions required by the MCSC application utilizing Visual Basic.

In addition to working with Medicare applications, staff of eMergineering have held positions as Vice-President for NationsBank where they installed and managed Distributed Relational Database Application (DRDA) interfaces (DB2 on WAN  that was connected directly to DB2 on MVS), managed a team of 8 DB2 DBAs, and personally was involved in all Data Warehousing activities. While with DeKalb County in Atlanta, GA, staff of eMergineering served in the capacity of DB2 Systems Programmer installing and configuring the DB2 product while also supporting numerous projects as an Application DBA. They were also instrumental in the formation of the DB2 Users Group in Atlanta which grew from a base of 3 DB2 DBA’s to an organization comprised of well over 200 individuals in the local area. They also held the position of the DB2 Users Group finance manager for several years while living in the area.

While working at JCPenney, staff of eMergineering was responsible for store, district, and regional financial sales reporting including rollup of information from the 1,300 SQL Server databases located in each of the stores with final distribution of the summary information to Store, District, and Regional Managers desktops. In short, eMergineering has over 20 years in experience working with DB2 and other relational database products with a primary concentration of interfacing that data, via a variety of middleware products, to LAN based GUI applications.

Proposal Development

Development of new contracts requires effective presentations and proposals. eMergineering has been key in the development of numerous proposals working in conjunction with TrailBlazer Health Enterprises, LLC headquartered in Dallas, TX. TrailBlazer has been a Medicare contractor for the past 39 years and understands the importance of constantly obtaining new business. Several of these proposals have been unsolicited based on our experience and knowledge of the Medicare field and its requirements. This documentation preparation has resulted in the award of several contracts representing millions of dollars.

Middleware Experience

eMergineering past  experience interfacing LAN based applications to mainframe data sources via middleware API’s is quite strong. Staff of eMergineering have configured and installed several Middleware products such as DB2/2 under OS/2 using DRDA to connect to DB2 on the mainframe. They have installed, configured, and managed IBM Transaction Server running under Window NT to communicate with COBOL CICS programs which would access EDB and SSA MBR SOLQ information or others CICS programs that accessed claim information in MCS, FISS, and the DME standard claim systems. They have also installed and configured IBM CICS Universal Client software that accesses EDB and MBR information via a local browser based applicaton.

Prior to developments in the MQ Series, IBM provided Mainframe/LAN interfacing via NT server products such as SNA Manager, Transaction Server, Transaction Gateway, CICS Universal Client, and DB2 for OS/2. While the CICS underlying foundation is still present today (i.e. Cobol and CICS COMMAREA) and is accessible via MQ, the ability to access DB2 directly via SQL statements with MQSeries is now also an option. Messaging via MQ Series insures the delivery and execution of the requests and insures security between the data layer and the presentation layers comprising the majority of online applications. Staff of eMergineering can expand their 10 years of middleware experience skill set to include MQ Series if awarded projects.

DB2

eMergineering staff have functioned as a Systems Programmer supporting DB2, as a DB2 Application Programmer supporting major Data Warehousing applications, as a DBA working with literally thousands of Microsoft SQL Server installations, as a Data Architect concentrating on database design and performance issues, have worked with numerous SQL Query products, and have close to 20 years experience in the SQL language. Management of eMergineering have functioned as a team leader/manager for numerous DBA’s (DB2, Oracle, and SQL Server) over the years.
